ND: SYRIZA guilty of property tax evasion for 16 years!
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Opposition party New Democracy (ND) MP Georgios Georgantas accused SYRIZA of systematically failing to declare property taxes from 2001 till 2016 of its party headquarters located on Koumnoudourou street.
During the session of the special enquiry committee on the funding and bank loans of Greek political parties, the MP alleged that on November 14 SYRIZA officials submitted 16 property tax statements for the period 2001-2016 to the 6th tax office in Athens. Georgantas cited documentation submitted to the committee by SYRIZA MPs, according to which the ruling party had avoided paying property taxes and all related side taxes for 16 consecutive years. SYRIZA responded by claiming the allegations were unfounded, as the ownership of the building had passed on to the party in 2016.
