The city of Thessaloniki will celebrate the Chinese New Year and welcome the arrival of the year of the rooster with colors, aromas and flavors from China on February 11.
The municipality of Thessaloniki in cooperation with TIF-Helexpo and the representatives of the Chinese community will hold a series of events in the so-called Chinatown.
"The aim is to create the appropriate climate and attract a lot of tourists," the deputy mayor and responsible for Tourism Relations Spyros Pengas said in statements to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).
On his part, the managing director of TIF-Helexpo Kyriakos Mozrikidis stated to ANA's radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM: "There are 11 communities in Greece and we want them to participate in the celebrations. China will be the guest of honor at 82nd TIF next September."
