- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
More than half of Greeks can not take vacation for one week during the year, as they have no financial means.
Eurostat data on tourism in the European Union is revealing. 53.6% of Greeks do not have the luxury to pay for a seven-day trip during the year, which places Greece towards the bottom among EU countries.
The same data shows that this is also true for one in three Europeans.
As shown in the Eurostat sata, 33% of households in Member States of the European Union have difficulty paying for a seven-day trip.
The most difficult position is for Romanians with 66.6%. Followed by the Croats with 62.8%, the Bulgarians with 56.4% and in the fourth from the final position, the Greeks.
In the last five years, the percentage of non-able residents has declined in all Member States except Cyprus, Denmark and Greece.
Based on research in Greece, 53.6% of citizens are unable to spend money for a week of vacation, while five years ago the figure was 51.2%.
