- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Around 6:15 am Thursday morning Hellenic Navy frigate “Kanaris” (F-464) ran aground at the islet of Atalanti, near Psytalia as it was coming back to the Salamina Naval Base after a planned mission.
As has been confirmed by the Hellenic Navy General Staff, there is no water inflow or fuel leakage on the warship, and all officers and crew are in good health.
In the meantime, it is expected that the frigate will be towed to the Salamina Naval Base in the following hours.
First, divers are expected to dive to check if there are serious damage or other abnormalities before any further action is taken.
There are already three tug-boats in the area of the incident.
