Turkey insists on and awaits the extradition of the 8 soldiers who have fled to Greece "as soon as possible", Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Beqir Bozdag said, as reported by the state news agency Anadolu.
Bozdag's statement came after the meeting of the Turkish cabinet in Ankara, indicating that it was a government position rather than a personal attitude.
As the Turkish vice president said, "those who participate in a coup" and escape to other countries, they are "etradited", adding that this case will play an important role in solving the problems between the two states, always through dialogue.
"This is an extremely wrong decision regarding the issue, by Greece. This decision was judged by the Court of Appeal. The asylum seeker who participated in a coup is returned as soon as possible. Turkey and Greece are neighboring countries. There are serious problems, such as those that happen in Greece and the Aegean. We emphasize the importance of resolving these problems through dialogue. We are expecting the release of 8 military personnel as soon as possible," the Turkish government vice-president said at a press conference.
