Foreign gang robs and stabs passers by in central Athens

Inhabitants near the Acropolis and the area of Philopappou live in fear, because of a gang attacking passers-by with knives.
In particular, a gang of ten people attacked a group of six young boys and girls on Saturday night, and after robbing them, they stabbed a 19-year-old who tried to resist, The young man was hospitalized in serious condition.
A few hours later, specifically Sunday morning, a couple was assaulted near the Roman market in Monastiraki. In particular, according to the testimony of the victims, they were faced with two robbers who, under the threat of a knife, asked for money. When the 23-year-old tried to resist, they attacked him with fury and started stabbing him, stealing the money of both himself and his 19-year-old friend.
The police after the two attacks are looking for at least five people most likely from Pakistan.
According to sources cited by newspaper "Eleftheros Typos" some perpetrators have been identified by the victims and are close to their arrest.
"This is a very violent and dangerous group that does not hesitate to maniacally attack people in isolated places, which they choose after a short look around even for a small amount of money," police investigators told the newspaper.
The same sources report that they are looking into video surveillance equipment from security cameras in their attempt to identify as many people as possible in the most crowded areas of Athens.
