Bus bursts into flames. Commuters safe

A fire broke out in the engine compartment of a bus on the line serving the Piraeus suburb of Nikaia shortly before seven in the morning.
The bus was running its daily route when the engine burst into flames at the rear of the vehicle.
The driver quickly realized the problem, stopped the bus and asked the passengers to move away from it, so that no one was injured.
According to the fire department, the incident happened at Grigoriou Lambraki Street, while at that time two vehicles with six firefighters arrived on the spot.
Several incidents because of mechanical problems in buses serving in the Athens metropolitan area have been caused lately.
Employees complain of lack of spare parts and poor maintenance.
