Flash flood cause problems throughout Attica

Severe storms that struck Attica on Sunday afternoon caused huge problems around the metropolitan area.
Chaos was caused on roads, as many became rivers, while elsewhere there were traffic jams and flooding.
The fire brigade received more than 220 calls for water pumping, fallen trees and first aid. Large problems weer caused in the center of Athens, but also in the northern, southern and western suburbs. Most of the calls to the fire brigade involved water pumping, but at least 16 were for assistance, as several drivers were trapped in their vehicles.
Indeed, there were power problems in Galatsi, Ampelokipi, Melissia, Glyfada, Agia Paraskevi, Filothei and Papagou, while the underpass was closed at the juncture of Mesogeion and Katehaki avenuse.
