The United States wants us to be and will be an aid in our effort to give a new impetus to the Greek economy, said Alexis Tsipras at the inauguration of the US stand at the TIF.
"Greece plays an extremely important role in a fragile broader region," the prime minister stressed, adding that our country "as a pillar of stability, security and as a country that can play a leading role in the region opens its gates to the new era."
The prime minister stressed that Greece's strategic cooperation with the US would be the best foundation for a new perspective for Greece and the wider region.
"On my trip to Washington I had talked with President Trump about the great importance of the first TIF following Greece's exit from the 8-year adventure of adjustment programs that marked the return of the country and the economy to recovery, to host as honored country the US, "he said.
"We leave recession and austerity behind us and we can now unravel the potential of the Greek economy," the prime minister said.
"It is a great honor to represent the Trump administration in the 83rd TIF," said US Trade Secretary Wilhelm Ross. He stressed that a wide range of industries are ready to work with Greek businesses to meet the economic goals for the benefit of both peoples.
"We have a tremendous opportunity to further expand the trade relations of the two countries to the benefit of Greece," Mr Ross said, making a special reference also in the energy sector.
Soprano Anastasia Zanni interpreted the national anthems of the two countries.
