Astypalaia island adopts "SMOKE-FREE" initiative
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The Municipality of Astypalaia, in cooperation with the South Aegean Region and with the support of the Papastratos company, have launched a major new initiative that aims to transform Astypalaia into the first cigarette-free Greek island.
Astypalaia's "SMOKE-FREE" initiative was announced on Friday, October 5, at an event held in front of the traditional windmills in the island's main town.
The "SMOKE-FREE" inititiative adopted by Astypalaia is part of the island's new identity as a "font of positive energy" that focuses on promoting well-being and the better quality of life provided by the island. The aim of the initiative is twofold: Astypalaia seeks to radically enhance the experience it provides to its visitors while at the same time sensitising citizens and businesses about the importance of implementing anti-smoking legislation.
