Violence at AEK - Ajax match besmirches Greek sports globally

The incidents that took place at OAKA before the start of the AEK - Ajax match for the Champions League have made media headlines across the globe.

Top foreign media had extensive reports with very similar reports that besmirch Greek sports.

From Italy to England, Portugal, but even in Argentina, the USA and Taiwan, pictures and reports showed what happened at OAKA.

The Italian Gazzetta dello Sport, which also has videos from the episodes, notes: "Molotovs and incidents among the fans outside and throughout the stadium," while the Portuguese Record mentions in a picture and related video: "The moment when AEK's friends throw a Molotov cocktail against fans of Ajax ".

The Guardian notes that "AEK Athens’ Champions League defeat to Ajax in the Greek capital was marred by violent scenes before kick-off. The away fans came under attack as home supporters threw flares into the stands. Social media footage also appeared to show a home fan throwing a ‘Molotov cocktail’ – an improvised petrol bomb – towards Ajax supporters."

The Dutch Nu.nl highlighted: "Eight injured Ajax fans due to fireworks that AEK fans fired. Many Ajax supporters are seen in photos injured in the head. "
