The olive oil produced by the ancient olive trees of Ierapetra, proved to be "gold" as at an auction held in the Netherlands a few days ago it was sold at the price of 1,020 euros per liter!
The oil that "traveled" to the Netherlands and was presented at the annual celebration day for the Aalsmir Agricultural Museum came from the olives of the Cooperative Societies of Greece (KOTSEP) "Eptastiktos" in Ierapetra.
This package held the serial number "2018 148/350", it was half a liter and was finally auctioned for 510 euros!
"Eptastiktos" announced that it decided to participate in this event "as a minimum tribute to the unforgettable Dutchman Paul Cooper who brought a blooming to the greenhouse production ofGreece."
It should be noted that the olive oil program was held this year for the third year by "Eptastiktos." In 2016, 55 liters of olive oil had been exported, 350 liters were exported in 2017, and this year - due to widely reduced production - 108 liters were exported.
