A 15-year-old Greek tourist who wanted to leave her mark on the Ponte Vecchio medieval bridge in Florence, was in for a "dressing down" from Italian authorities.
According to the ANSA agency, the 15-year-old Greek wrote her name on the historical monument, with the result that the Italian authorities immediately mobilized.
Thus the authorities "caught" the 15-year-old who had traveled to Italy with her family and friends for Christmas holidays, in the act, while she was holding the marker and writing her name on the historical monument, which according to the Italian law is vandalism.
The incident ended with a warning for vandalizing a historic monument and a fine of 160 euros.
This a far cry from how Greek authorities deal with similar incidents, as anyone who travels to graffiti ridden Athens can attest to.
