Steady supply of US natural gas is a matter of time

Developments in the field of energy privatizations, as well as the supply of natural gas from the United States, were described by the Minister of Environment and Energy, George Stathakis, with statements made today on Bloomberg.
In particular, he argued that it is a matter of time for a stable gas supply from the US, as discussions of quantity and price have begun and the result is expected in a matter of months.
For the privatization of Hellenic Petroleum, the Minister stressed that discussions with potential buyers have been completed in connection with the securing of a majority (50.1%) state control in the subsidiary ELPE Upstream, which owns hydrocarbon exploration rights and concessions. It is recalled that Glencore and Vitol are participating in the tender, while binding tenders are expected to be tendered on 28 January.
Besides, as it was explained, in the immediate future, the tenders for the PPC lignite units in Megalopolis and Florina are expected. Finally, the submission of a bill to separate the DEPA into infrastructure and trading companies is forthcoming, with the State retaining control of the first and minority share of 15% in the second. The State controls 65% of the shares of DEPA while the remaining 35% belongs to Hellenic Petroleum.
