International film studio planned in Thessaloniki

Deputy Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media Minister Lefteris Kretsos visited the headquarters of Nu Boyana Film Studios in Bulgaria on Wednesday. The studios are part of the group Nu Image, which belongs the American production company Millenium Pictures.
Kretsos was given a tour of the facilities by the heads and founders of the group, Avi and Yariv Lerner, and talked with members of the company. The aim of Kretsos' visit was the construction of a film studio of the Nu Image group in Thermi, Thessaloniki and the strengthening of the bonds of cooperation between the group and the EKOME (National Centre of Audiovisual, Media and Communication) which was officially announced at the Thessaloniki International Fair in September 2018.
The minister noted that "we are in contact with the owners of Nu Boyana Film Studios and of Millenium Pictures in the last months in Sofia and Los Angeles. Today we are in position to announce the creation of an international film studio in the industrial area of Thermi in Thessaloniki.
On his part the managing director of Nu Boyana studios Yariv Lerner stated: "We are very happy that the studios will expand their activities in Greece by constructing a film studio in Thermi. The new studio in Thermi will offer all the necessary infrastructure and equipment (soundstages, postproduction and CGI) in order to support the needs of Millenium films, as well as other production companies.
The film "The Legend of Sinbad the Sailor", a cooperation of Millenium with Eagle Films will be shot in Thessaloniki, while more major film productions will follow. Nu Boyana studios is collaborating with the Greek-American businessman Ioannis Kalafatis, owner of the film studios York film in NY, on the specific investment.
