Greek unemployment ease in April

Greek unemployment rate eased to 17.6 pct of the workforce in April from 18.2 pct in May, Eurostat said on Wednesday. The EU executive's statistics service, in a report released here, said Greece recorded the biggest decline in the unemployment rate on an annual basis (17.6 pct from 19.8 pct in April 2018).
The number of unemployed people in Greece was 834,000. The unemployment rate among men was 14.5 pct and among women 21.7 pct. The unemployment rate among young people (aged up to 25 years) was 39.6 pct.
In the Eurozone, the unemployment rate eased to 7.5 pct from 7.6 pct in May and 8.2 pct in June 2018, while in the EU, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 63. in June from May and fell from 6.8 pct in June last year. The number of unemployed people in the EU was 15.7 million and in the Eurozone 12.4 million. Greece (17.6 pct) and Spain (14 pct) recorded the highest unemployment rates while Czech Republic (1.9 pct) and Germany (3.1 pct) the lowest.
