Rich teachers on Crete scrutinized
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The financial crime squad (SDOE) is carefully poring over every detail of the bank accounts of six teachers, after accusations that they are involved in illicit activities.
According to local media Cretalive.gr, SDOE has proceeded to all requisite actions in order to get the green light to open the bank accounts of the six suspects.
Meanwhile, the same sources mentioned that other education personnel on Crete are also under scrutiny, as relevant authorities ordered investigations into their means after large deposits from unaccountable sources were found in their bank accounts.
An elementary school teacher was found with a remittance of a million euros in a personal account, and a high school teacher with 300,000 euros in accounts. According to information from SDOE the two offered a host of excuses for this wealth citing stock exchange profits, interest, and even wedding presents.
