Greece-Bulgaria-Croatia-Romania foreign minister meeting on the European perspective of the Western Balkans

"I think it is a good step for the Balkan foreign ministers to be able to exchange views. We reach common positions that concern our common interests and the common wider region within the European Union," Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said after the meeting.

Dendias sent the message that Greece is leaving introversion behind and is ready to play an active role internationally. "Greece, after ten years of crisis, is emerging from its isolation - where it was led by the crisis - [looking] with confidence to the Balkans, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, Europe and the world," he stressed.

Meetings with Norwegian and Libyan foreign ministers

During discussions with his Norwegian counterpart Ine Eriksen Soreide, Dendias focused on the management of the refugee crisis and the opportunities for economic cooperation.

According to diplomatic sources, there is growing investment interest from Norway, as investors take a positive view of Greece’s economic and political stability. Some Norwegian funds, which are considered 'conservative' in the sense that they seek low-risk investments, are already exploring investment opportunities in Greece.

Concerning the meeting with Libya's Foreign Minister, Dendias had the opportunity to discuss the situation in Libya and its implications at a regional level, as well as the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in both the economic and political fields.

 On Wednesday, the foreign minister will participate in the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP). He will also participate in Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He will then hold a series of bilateral meetings, including with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
