Featured Greece sends humanitarian aid to earthquake, flood-stricken Albania

The Greek Air Force on Sunday helped with the transfer of some 9 tons of humanitarian aid to neighboring Albania, which was recently struck by earthquakes and floods, according to the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.

The aid includes food, medicines, electricity generators, rollaway beds, blankets and other essentials, and was received by Albanian Interior Ministry staff.

Greek humanitarian aid is part of the European Civil Protection Mechanism which coordinates the collective European response to natural disasters.
The Greek relief package was accompanied by the Secretary General of Civil Protection Nikos Chardalias, who emphasized how the Greek people "rushed to stand by their friend and neighbor at a difficult time, tested by recent earthquakes and floods."
