The President of China Xi Jinping paid a visit to the Acropolis Museum on Tuesday morning, accompanied by the President of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos. Around 11.30 the Chinese delegation left Greece.
The President of China made his last visit to the Acropolis Museum, where he saw closely the Parthenon Sculptures Hall, of which Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke during their lunch yesterday.
The Presidential Couple of China was welcomed at the Acropolis Museum by Prokopis Pavlopoulos with his wife, Culture Minister Lina Mendoni, and Dimitris Pantermalis, President of the Acropolis Museum. The first stop of the tour, conducted by Mr. Pantermalis, was the excavation at the entrance to the museum.
Xi Jinping: "I agree with the return of the Parthenon Sculptures"
"Not only do I agree with the return of the Parthenon Sculptures but you will have our support, as we too have our own Chinese cultural items abroad and are trying to return them to their homeland," Chinese President Xi Jinping told Prokopis Pavlopoulos. .
This statement was made by the President of China in front of the Caryatids at the Acropolis Museum, where he toured for an hour today. At this point, in the center of the Museum, as described by the Greek President, Mr. Pavlopoulos called for the support of the Chinese counterpart for the return of the sculptures from the British Museum: "The place of the sculptures is here and not in the British Museum. They keep them illegally. We ask for your support,” he said.
