54,000 more households will receive the social dividend, government spokesperson Stelios Petsas said to ANT1 TV on Tuesday.

The government's intention is to grant the dividend to beneficiaries on Monday or Tuesday while those who have made an appeal that has been approved will receive the dividend in early January.
A total of 1.6 billion euros has been granted this year, an amount that is twice the one offered last year, Petsas underlined.

The government spokesman stressed that there will be a permanent mechanism to support low pensioners which will become finalised in the coming period while the funding has been provided in 2020 State Budget.
He also said that that the government has promised a double increase in minimum wage based on growth rates. He explained that the procedures for its revision have been launched while the final increase will be determined early next year.  As he said, the target for 700 euro minimum wage is now closer.

Referring to the demonstrations and the draft law that the government will bring to parliament, he explained that those who want to demonstrate will have to do it orderly and without giving a hard time to the citizens. There will be a coordinator on the side of the demonstrators, a police officer acting as a mediator while the demonstration will have to be announced on a special platform.
