The population exceeds 700 horses, which is maintained with great effort and incredible personal care.
The Greek Pindos horse - an endangered species - coexists with and has been with humans since ancient times, friend, companion, worker has provided immense help to Greek farming, animal herding, and logging.
He is therefore subsidized in order to save the tribe. At the same time Nikos Varkas is active in the field of alternative tourism with horse tours in the amazing beauty of Mount Beles in Ano Poria of Serres prefecture.
