SYRIZA's Tsipras meets with Iranian Ambassador to Greece

SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras met with the Iranian Ambassador to Greece, Ahmad Naderi, at the request of the ambassador, with whom they discussed the recent developments in the Middle East and especially in Iraq.
According to a SYRIZA statement, "the Iranian ambassador presented his country's position on the killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in Iraq by US forces and the impact it had and will have in the region."
Tsipras "underlined that the killing of the Iranian general violates the international law and contributes to the further destabilisation in Iraq and in the wider region."
SYRIZA leader also underlined "the need for calmness and for the de-escalation of the tension in the region an in parallel the international community to actively support the peace and stability in Iraq, on the basis of respect to the international law, and particularly on the principle of non-involvement in third countries' internal affairs."
