Man shoots 72-year-old who tried to intervene in fight with ex-wife

A 52-year-old man was arrested as the perpetrator of a murder in Moires of Heraklion, Crete, last night after he shot and killed a 75-year-old man.
According to local site cretapost.gr, the 52-year-old was arrested shortly after 8:30 Thursday morning. It is recalled that the murder occurred last night when the 52-year-old arrived at his ex-wife's home and began arguing with her.
The 75-year-old landlord, who lives on the ground floor of the same block of flats with his wife, had just realized that the situation was getting out of control and decided to intervene to end the altercation.
Then the 52-year-old man, who according to local media was under the influence of alcohol, fired at the elderly man,killing him. However, the spouse of the elderly man did not escape unscathed and was transferred directly to Heraklion Hospital for treatment.
After the shooting, the 52-year-old perpetrator disappeared and immediately police set up a large operation to locate him. The ex-wife of the perpetrator is reportedly overwhelmed by the tragic incident.
