The first administrative fines fell on Sunday, on undisciplined travelers who, while required to be in mandatory quarantine for the purpose of preventing and stopping the spread of the new coronavirus in the country, ignored orders and were not where they had stated they would be quarantined.

These are a total of 13 people who had returned from overseas and, as provided for in the decision, had stated in writing the address where they would stay throughout the 14-day quarantine.

At noon executives of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection made raids and imposed the first fines, which in each case reached 5,000 euros.

More specifically, there are nine cases in Athens, two in Thessaloniki and two in provincial cities.

As officials at the General Secretariat for Civil Protection pointed out the checks were sampled and from Monday, systematic raids will take place throughout Greece.

Data for quarantined travelers have already been sent to the police stations of the areas where the travelers are staying and the searches will begin until all those who are in violation of the quarantine are identified.

Indeed, Undersecretary of State for Crisis Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Chardalias told his associates that the checks would be exhaustive and fines would be properly enforced, with the aim being to check all those who returned home from abroad and were subject to mandatory home confinement. for 14 days.
