Illumination of Filopappou Monument and Temple of Hephaestus gives Athens a new air

These difficult days we need a little extra light in our lives and, with the completion of the second phase of the illumination of the Filopappou Monument and the Temple of Hephaestus in the Ancient Agora, these important landmarks of the City of Athens are now "conversing" with the monuments on the Acropolis Hill, spreading a light of revival and rejuvenation and sending a message of hope for tomorrow.

Both monuments were lit using the same philosophy and technology as that employed for the Acropolis monuments, so there is a "shared vocabulary" when viewing them from any part of the city, giving a new air to the urban landscape of Athens.

The result creates the impression that all the monuments form a single composition, without one antagonising the other, telling a story of centuries through light.
The project was carried out by the Culture Ministry and with a donation of Onassis Foundation and designed by Eleftheria Deko.
