US Senator Menendez in Greece
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
US Senator Robert (Bob) Menendez is visiting Greece on Thursday and is expected to meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at 9:30 a.m.
Menendez, who is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has been a consistent supporter of Greek positions and with his fellow senator Marco Rubio initiated the East Med Act, which promotes US relations with reliable partners in the region including Greece, Cyprus and Israel.
The visit of Senator Robert Menendez marks the strategic nature of Greek-American relations, the deepening of Greek-US defence cooperation and the role of Greece as a pillar of stability and peace in the wider region, through the new architecture of alliances in which our country participates.
Oddly enough, on Wednesday afternoon, as Senator Mememdez and American ambassador Pyatt were vising a cafe close to the Athens Cathedral, a tree crashed by their table, but thankfully there were no injuries.
