Renown children's book author arrested for child pornography

The arrest of 53-year-old multi-award winning author of children’s literature Vassilis Papatheodorou on charges of child pornography has shocked the literary world and parents across Greece.
The renowned author was arrested on October 18 on a warrant issued against him following a month-long search by the cyber police unit of his digital print.
Following the scanning of the 53-year-old’s computer, it was found that he had more than 100 videos with pornographic material with children, some under 12 years old.
The author was arrested was was remanded in custody with criminal charges, and transferred to Tripolis prison.
The investigation against him is ongoing as the authorities are examining any possible connection with global child pornography rings, while police did not rule out his involvement in other illegal online activities.
At the same time, the author publisher Kastaniotis publications stopped their cooperation with the author in order to protect the interests of the company. “Kastaniotis Publications stopped any form of cooperation with Vassilis Papatheodorou, as soon as they were informed that a criminal investigation is underway by the judicial authorities, for a serious charge”, noted a relevant announcement.
