"The Greek Shipbuilding Industry is becoming a pioneer in the electrification of ships" noted the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis during his visit, a short time ago, to the Psychalis Shipyards in Perama, where the first hybrid ship is being built to enter the coastal shipping line Crete - Gavdos.
In his post on social media, the Minister of Development and Investments stateds:
"With the Deputy Minister of Labor Domna Michailidou and the MPs Mr. Yannis Melas and Dimitris Markopoulos we visited the shipyard of Mr. Psychalis in Perama. The first hybrid ship to enter the Crete/Gavdos line is being built there.
Thus, the Greek Shipbuilding Industry becomes a pioneer in the electrification of ships. I am proud that during my tenure the shipbuilding industry got off to a good start. The President of Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen, and Merchants (GSEVEE), Mr. Kavvathas, was with us."
Competitive Greek shipyards
Greece has been competitive in the international shipbuilding market in recent months, since already many shipowners are showing more and more confidence by bringing their ships to the domestic yards.
It should be noted that only in Neorio of Syros, at least 350 ship repairs of all types had been completed by 2022, and the shipyards of Elefsina and Skaramanga are also following suit.
