Polls show Kaminis leading the Athens mayoralty race

Two more polls conducted for the Sunday press, after the large poll conducted by Metron Analysis for TheTOC.gr affirm Giorgos Kaminis as leading the race for the Athens municipality.

According to poll by ALCO for “Proto Thema”, Mr Kaminis is in the lead with 18.4, while New Democracy backed candidate Aris Spiliotopoulos is second with 13.1%, followed by Nikitas Kaklamanis 12.1%, Ilias Kasidiaris 10.8%, Gavriel Sakellaridis 10.7%, Nikos Sofianos 4.7%, Vasilis Kapernaros 4.3%, and Giorgos Amyras with 2.6%.

The ALCO poll gives 4 scenarios for the second round:

1. In a possible Kaminis – Kaklamanis bout, Mr Kaminis wins with 42% against 28%.

2. In a possible Kaminis –Sakellaridis bout, the incumbent again wins with 32% against 19%

3. In a possible Kaminis – Spiliotopoulos trace, Mr Kaminis is again seen as the winner with 32% against 21%.

4. In a possible Spiliotopoulos – Sakellaridis run, Mr Spiliotopoulos is seen as winning with 29% against 25%.

In the MRB poll for “Real News”, Giorgos Kaminis ie seen again leading the polls with 20%, followed by Aris Spiliotopoulos 13.4%, Nikitas Kaklamanis 12.4%, Ilias Kasidiaris 11%, Gavriel Sakellaridis 9.6%, Vasilis Kapernaros 6.4%, Nikos Sofianos 6.2%, and Grigoris Vallianatos with 1.7%.

According to the poll, the incumbent Athens mayor wins against all possible opponents getting: Aris Spiliotopoulos with 36.7% against 30%, Nikos Kaklamanis with 35.6% against 31.7%, Gavriel Sakellaridis with 37% against 23%, and Ilias Kasidiaris with 51.3% against 21.4%.

The poll conducted by Metron Analysis for TheToc.gr on the intention of vote of Athenians in the upcoming elections for the City of Athens in May.

The poll was conducted in a sample of 801 Athens' residents, aged above 18, between February 12 and 13, 2014, right after the announcement of all candidates names.

The poll shows a lead of current Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis, in the upcoming Municipal elections, who is running for Mayor as an independent candidate.

Kaminis is followed by a New Democracy "civil war” between Nikitas Kaklamanis, who decided to run for Mayor as an independent candidate, and Aris Spiliotopoulos, who runs as a candidate with the support of New Democracy party.

The two candidates gain 14 and 13 percent of people's intention of vote respectively.

Extreme-right wing, Golden Dawn candidate, Ilias Kassidiaris is in fourth place comes , with 11 percent, followed by Gavriil Sakelaridis, Syriza candidate with 10 percent.
