Parole for Golden Dawn founder Nikos Michaloliakos revoked
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The founder of the neonazi criminal organisation Golden Dawn, Nikos Michaloliakos, is to return to prison after a Lamia Appeals Justices' Council on Monday ruled that his release on parole should be revoked. The appellate judges adopted the recommendation of the public prosecutor and reversed a decision by a Misdemeanour Court Judges Council for his conditional release from prison.
Michaloliakos was convicted and sentenced to serve 13 years in prison as the leader of Golden Dawn, which was judged to be a criminal organisation in the guise of a political party.
The appellate-level council found that Michaloliakos was unrepentant and continue to fervently support illegal nazi practices. It noted that articles by Michaloliakos in the electronic media continued to praise the nazi-style activities of Golden Dawn and that he is thus liable to reoffend.
Following the council's ruling, Michaloliakos' incarceration will continue as normal, until he has served his sentence in accordance with the law.
