Louis-Dreyfus family makes offer for Thessaloniki Port Authority
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
LeonidsPort, a newly established company backed by the prominent Louis-Dreyfus family, has launched a bid to acquire a 21% stake in the Thessaloniki Port Authority.
The offer, which includes a premium of 26.6% on the current share price, signals strong investor interest in Greece's largest port in the north.
The Louis-Dreyfus family, led by Russian-Swiss billionaire Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, has a long history in the global commodities trading and shipping sectors. This move marks their most significant investment in Greece to date.
In addition to the public offer, LeonidsPort intends to purchase shares directly through the Athens Stock Exchange (ATHEX) or over-the-counter, further demonstrating their commitment to acquiring a substantial stake in the port authority.
The Thessaloniki Port Authority, listed on the ATHEX, plays a crucial role in Greece's trade and logistics network. Its strategic location and modern facilities make it an attractive investment opportunity for companies seeking to expand their presence in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The move by the Louis-Dreyfus family is expected to generate significant interest in the Greek investment community.
It underscores the growing confidence in the Greek economy and the potential for strategic partnerships to drive growth in key sectors like infrastructure and logistics
