Man stops at toll road... and leaves forgetting wife
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The Angelokastro toll booth employees on the Ionian Highway are still laughing at the plight of a driver.
According to synidisi.gr, it all happened just before 2 a.m. on Monday (27.1.25). A driver from Albania, heading to Athens, stopped at the toll booth, paid, got his receipt and started off again.
However, about 50 minutes later, he returned on the other traffic flow, stopped again at the Angelokastro toll booth, showed the receipt that he had passed again and told the astonished company employees that at some point, on his way to Athens, he had… forgotten his wife.
As he explained to them, he had stopped earlier, but did not realize that his wife - who had been sleeping the entire trip - had not returned to the car. Absent-minded, he started the car and left for Athens.
About 30 minutes later, when he reached the Rio-Antirio bridge, he realized that his wife was not in the seat next to him and… returned.
