Turkish Cypriot businessman Asil Nadir who made a fortune by usurping the property of Greek Cypriots has died

Turkish Cypriot businessman Asil Nadir passed away yesterday (9/2) at the age of 83.
Nadir was born in now occupied Lefka. He created, in London, the giant Polly Peck company, with an emphasis on the trade of food and textile products, usurping the properties of displaced Greek Cypriots.
The company expanded rapidly and was associated with the economic boom of occupied Cyprus. However, it collapsed in the 1990s, when it was linked to fraud and accounting irregularities.
Facing 66 charges, Nadir fled to the occupied territories in 1993, leading to the resignation, due to their relations, of the then Minister of Northern Ireland. Asil Nadir returned to London in 2010, where he was tried and imprisoned.
For many years, he was the owner of the "Kibris" media group, which he sold to a company with Turkish interests.
