An image that is in no way consistent with a university institution in a European country is that of the so-called "self-managed Law School cafeteria".

The cafeteria was evacuated on Tuesday morning by the Police, along with another space of the Athens University that was under occupation by self proclaimed anarchists.

In the presence of a representative of the judicial authority, police officers from the Sub-Directorate for Combating Racist and Extremist Violence entered the premises of the Law School as part of a parallel operation to identify the perpetrators of the attack two weeks ago, during which a postdoctoral student was seriously injured.

During the operation, the police officers located in the "self-managed cafeteria", as well as in an underground space that was under occupation, objects that had been used in the attack, such as fire extinguishers, gloves, battons, etc. The police proceeded to evacuate the premises, which they handed over to the School Administration.

It is noted that the police had already evacuated the specific premises a year ago, while they had been under occupation since 2012.

According to information, the reoccupation of the premises took place after the administration of the University granted the Law School cafeteria to groups not related to the university premises.

In the police operation that took place in May 2024, 28 people were arrested, who participated in the occupation of the premises and, among other things, expressed support for terrorist groups. These were people who had no connection with the University. In fact, during the occupation, these people held assemblies and parties, which became inaccessible to students, while the participants caused damage to the premises.
