The delegation of the Film Office of the Region of Central Macedonia had contacts with producers, international organizations and companies in the audiovisual sector in Cannes.
The delegation, led by the Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Vicky Hatzivassiliou, participated this year in the Marché du Film of the 78th Cannes Film Festival, one of the largest film markets internationally. The headquarters of the delegation was the national pavilion of Greece in Cannes, coordinated by EKKOMED.
In her statements, Ms. Hatzivassiliou pointed out that the presence of the delegation of the Region, which was also the only representation of the Film Office of a Greek Region this year in Cannes, brought tangible results, honorary participations and new important collaborations with European film organizations and bodies in the coming period.
“Our constant presence and participation in the networking activities of the two major international Film Commissions associations: the EUFCN (European Film Commissions Network) and the AFCI (Association of Film Commissioners International), as well as our honorary participation in the national delegation of Greece for the anniversary event of the ten years of EFAD (European Film Agencies Directors) proves that our strategy for extroversion and the promotion of Central Macedonia as a film destination is on the right track,” she said. At the same time, she emphasized that the targeted actions of the Region continue to attract audiovisual producers and implement innovative European projects for the education and training of local professionals.
It is noted that this year, the response of audiovisual industry professionals to the Marché du Film film market in Cannes was impressive and equaled last year's participation record, as more than 15,000 accredited audiovisual industry professionals from 140 countries were present. The Marché du Film continues to attract a global audience, with more than 600 exhibitors from the international audiovisual industry, new country presences and the most extensive market internationally.
