At the Presidential Mansion, where she presented her credentials to the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, the new U.S. ambassador, Kimberly Guilfoyle, officially assumed her new duties on Tuesday afternoon.

Following this, Ms. Guilfoyle will proceed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a meeting with Giorgos Gerapetritis, as a copy of the credentials is customarily submitted to the Ministry.

Prior to this, the new ambassadors of the Kingdom of Norway, Harriet Berg, and of Canada, Sonia Thissen, had submitted their credentials.

Harriet Berg has served, among other positions, as Director for Human Rights, Democracy, and Gender Equality at the ministry in Oslo, as well as Consul General in New York, and was Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry from 1997 to 2000. She has also worked for many years in the private sector and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University. On the occasion of assuming her duties, she posted a video on social media addressing the Greek people.

Meanwhile, the new Canadian ambassador, Sonia Thissen, joined her country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1995. From 2009 to 2013, she served as Deputy Chief of Protocol of Canada, responsible for high-level visits, including those related to the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Abroad, she has served in France and the United Kingdom.
