A 25-year-old man was caught trafficking child pornography from Attica through the US

According to the Hellenic Police - ELAS, the first information about the 25-year-old came to the Greek authorities from the Homeland Security Investigations office of the US embassy in Greece as he was spotted requesting child sexual abuse material from a file sharing application.

The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate has filed a criminal case, with immediate effect, against a 25-year-old citizen for child pornography, via the internet.

Specifically, in the context of investigating information received from the HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) office of the US Embassy in Greece, an internet user was identified in Greek territory, who sent and requested from a user of a chat and file sharing application, material of sexual abuse of minors.

A thorough digital analysis and online investigation followed, from which it emerged that the defendant, at least since 2024, has shared a large number of files of sexual abuse material of minors, who have not reached the age of 12, with a large number of users of the above application.

From the subsequent correspondence, which was carried out following a relevant order from the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office and after communication with internet and telecommunications service providers, the defendant's place of residence in an area of ​​Attica was verified.

In a search that took place in the morning hours of December 8, 2025 in the said residence, in the presence of a judicial officer, a mobile phone was found and seized, while at the same time the defendant's involvement in the case was certified, as a large number of files of sexual abuse material of minors were located, which is why he was arrested in the context of the immediate proceedings.

The seized digital evidence will be sent to the competent Department of the Criminal Investigations Directorate for laboratory examination.

The arrested person will be taken to the competent prosecution authority.
