Kypseli: The 16-year-old who stabbed a 14-year-old at school has been arrested three times - She had been expelled from the previous one

The shocking incident that occurred on Monday morning at a school in Kypseli is devastating, when a 16-year-old student attacked her 14-year-old classmate with a butterfly knife.
The incident occurred just a few hours after the perpetrator arrived at her new school, as she had changed school environments due to delinquent behavior.
The 16-year-old, with a history of delinquent acts, went to school with the intention of making a fresh start, however the atmosphere in the classroom was not at all calm. As her sister told the Star, the 16-year-old reacted strongly when she heard her classmates call her "prezaki" and "broomiara", which seems to have angered her and led her to the attack. "My sister doesn't do anything without being provoked," she added.
Although the 16-year-old's aggression had already become known to the teachers, the incident could not be avoided. According to information, the perpetrator took out the knife and ruthlessly and without regard for the consequences attacked the 14-year-old, causing injuries to her abdomen. A boy who was present ran to grab the butterfly from her and almost injured him too. The victim was immediately taken to the Children's Hospital for first aid and stitches, while the 16-year-old was arrested.
Knives and violence: The 16-year-old was arrested 3 times in 2025
The fact that the 16-year-old already has a long criminal record, with three arrests in 2025 alone, which include previous incidents of violence, intimidation and possession of knives, is worrying.
Specifically:
On July 26, she stabbed her former classmate in the Gyzi area. The child was taken to the hospital and received 5 stitches. "I wanted to intimidate her, not injure her," she told the police.
On September 6, she was involved in an incident between minors in Agios Panteleimonas.
On October 19, police officers found her in Agios Panteleimonas Square carrying an 18-centimeter knife.
Authorities point out that the minor in question had been expelled from her previous school due to her repeated delinquency. According to the Star, the minor set fire to school bins, cursed at teachers and threw objects at them. In fact, two days before she changed school environments, teachers found a knife under her desk
Ministry of Education takes a stand
The Ministry of Education, through a statement, stated that an explicit instruction has been given for school psychologists and social workers to communicate directly with students and their families, in order to take a systematic approach to addressing the problem.
The incident raises serious questions about the lack of effective support and prevention mechanisms for minors with delinquent behavior. School communities, together with families, are called upon to collaborate more actively to prevent such incidents and rehabilitate young people who have deviant behaviors.
Problems in the 16-year-old's family
The 16-year-old's family, according to information from Star, seems to be facing serious difficulties, with her father being a former police officer and her mother living separately. Indicative is the fact that the girl had been absent from school since October and had missed a school year.
