Searching for Answers: What Greeks Googled in 2025
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The end of the year is always a tug-of-war between nostalgia and anticipation. We bid farewell to the highs (and lows) of the past 12 months while secretly hoping the new year brings something even better. By January, of course, we’ve mostly forgotten the emotional roller coaster—but one year-end tradition never fades: Google’s annual lists.
As December winds down, everyone wants to know the hits, misses, scandals, viral moments, and WTFs of the past 365 days. For Greeks in 2025, the curiosity revealed in our search queries was as revealing as it was entertaining. Some questions were perfectly reasonable, some were downright odd, and others felt straight out of a TV quiz show.
The most popular “What does it mean?” queries included:
• Lathe biosas –Λάθε βιώσας
• Intersex
• Simoon-Σιμούν
• Hong Kong
• Exergasia-Εξεργασία in medicine
• Tzivaeri-Τζιβαέρι
• Πέλωρ
• Nepotism
• Flex-Φλεξάρω
• Δράμω
• The first Greek feminist
• The capital of Nigeria
• Long-term weather trends
• Helen’s mother
• The longest word in Greek
• Madlen Peneva
• The capital of Australia
• My IP address
• The world’s second-largest country
• The capital of Saudi Arabia
And yet, one cultural phenomenon somehow slipped through the cracks: the legendary “6-7” meme, which had parents and boomers scratching their heads all year, barely registered in searches. Apparently, some mysteries remain unsolved—even by Google.
