"Businessman" arrested carrying weapons in Paleo Faliro: More than six previous arrests for extortion, tax evasion and robbery
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The case of a 56-year-old... "businessman" who was found to have two pistols with two magazines and a folding knife in his car and more than six arrests for extortion, tax evasion, robbery, etc. to his credit, again raises the question of the application of Greek justice that allows such individuals to roam the streets.
The man, who was using a fake driver's license, was arrested on Tuesday night (13/1) in Paleo Faliro when police officers from the DI.AS. Team considered his car's movement suspicious and checked it.
This is not the first time the 56-year-old has been of concern to the authorities. On the contrary, as is evident from his criminal past, it is one of his “habits”; something that is clearly reflected in the long list that follows:
In 1997, a case was filed against him for robbery and attempted extortion, as he allegedly demanded the payment of checks at gunpoint, and in 1998 he was arrested for violating health regulations.
In October 2001, he was arrested pursuant to a decision for instigation in attempted serial extortion, instigation to cause serious bodily harm, and illegal possession of weapons.
In July 2005, a case was filed against him for insults, threats, and weapons. The defendant got into a fight on the street and threatened the other person with a pistol.
In March 2013, he was arrested for tax evasion and a decision for KOK. In April of the same year, he was arrested by Extortionists for possession of weapons. Following a prosecutor's order, a search was carried out at his home and cartridges were found.
A few months later, in June 2013, a case was filed against him for gang and attempted extortion with complicity. It is alleged that he went with others for financial disputes as a presence.
In February 2014, he was arrested for resistance, disobedience and false false testimony after a check at his store during which he declared false information and then hid in the premises.
In 2015, a decision was issued against him for forgery and three years later, in 2018, he was arrested for tax evasion.
In September 2024, a case was filed against him for robbery. He broke into a house, claiming to be from PPC, and threatened an elderly woman, extorting jewelry.
