Featured He staged the murder of a 64-year-old hotelier in Rhodes as a traffic accident, how he misled authorities for seven months

For seven months, a 49-year-old Ukrainian had managed to mislead the authorities so that the well-planned murder of a 64-year-old hotelier with whom he had personal differences appeared as a traffic accident. However, a more careful investigation, as well as information provided by citizens, even through social media, led to the investigation of the murder.

The victim, 64-year-old Konstantinos Tsiantis, according to dimokratiki.gr, had disappeared on May 1st from the Ialyssos area. Two days later, his ex-wife, with whom he had maintained contact, reported him missing and a search was issued for him. On the evening of May 7th, following information provided by citizens, the body was found in a ravine in the Pasaoutia area of Rhodes, along with a motorbike he was riding. There were no obvious signs of a struggle, the first conclusion was that he had been the victim of a traffic accident.

As time passed, however, testimonies and information increased that something else had happened. Konstantinos Tsiantis, as his ex-wife had said, was psychologically burdened as she feared that he was suffering from a serious illness, while others had made references to the man with whom he had personal differences and who is now accused of the murder.

The police have now identified the perpetrator, who is accused of manslaughter.

The police statement states: "Specifically, regarding the history of the case, on the afternoon of May 3, 2025, the disappearance of a 64-year-old Greek national was reported to the Ialyssos Police Department since the afternoon of May 1, 2025.

During the investigation of the disappearance, on the evening of May 7, 2025, police officers, following telephone reports, located the 64-year-old missing person, collapsed along with the motorcycle he had rented.

In the context of a thorough police investigation, after a careful and combined study of pre-trial data and findings, evidence of a homicide was found and the perpetrator was identified, who proceeded to "stage" the location of the discovery of the 64-year-old's body, in order to mislead the authorities and have the death attributed to a road traffic accident.

The case file that was formed was submitted to the Rhodes First Instance Prosecutor's Office.
