“Feverless, asymptomatic and without any sign of illness” is, according to Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, the Greek passenger of the cruise ship with the Hantavirus who arrived in Athens in the early hours of Monday morning on a special flight from the Netherlands and was quarantined at Attikon Hospital.
As Mr. Georgiadis states in his post, the Greek passenger MV Hondius “for precautionary reasons only has been transferred to Attikon Hospital in quarantine. There is absolutely no reason for concern.”
To Athens by special flight
The C-27 of the Air Force that carried out the airlift of the Greek passenger of the MV Hondius cruise ship on which the cases of the Hantavirus were recorded, landed at the Eleusis air base shortly after 3 am on Monday.
The repatriation of the passenger took place in two phases, initially he was transported by special flight from Tenerife to Eindhoven airport in the Netherlands, from where he was picked up by the Air Force aircraft.
Subsequently, the 70-year-old was transported by EKAB ambulance to the Attica Hospital where he will be placed in strict quarantine for 45 days in a specially designed negative pressure chamber of the hospital.
During his transfer, all safety protocols were observed, with the EKAB rescuers wearing special uniforms.
