Naval Group's new contracts with Greek companies for the Belharra frigates
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Naval Group awarded new contracts to Greek companies in the framework of the FDI frigate program - known in Greece as Belharra - in May.
With this move, it further strengthens the participation of the Greek defense industry in the supply chain of the French shipbuilding group.
The FDI frigates (Frégate de Défense et d'Intervention) are the new acquisition of the Greek Navy, the first of which is the frigate "Kimon", which arrived in Greece in January 2026.
The new contracts
In particular, Naval Group proceeded to award two important contracts to the Greek companies Mevaco and Akmon, which concern the construction of up to four complete packages of electronic consoles and cabinets each for the FDI-type frigates. Each package includes more than 50 electronic consoles and cabinets.
The new contracts are a continuation of the cooperation between the two Greek companies and Naval Group, as the delivery of the first order for three sets of equipment has already been completed. According to the company, these systems have already been installed on the French and Greek FDI frigates that are currently under construction.
As noted, the new contracts are part of the Hellenic Industrial Participation (HIP) program that Naval Group is implementing in Greece and reflect its strategic commitment to long-term cooperation with the domestic defense industry.
At the same time, they highlight the further integration of specialized Greek companies into Naval Group’s global supply chain, within the framework of the FDI frigate program implemented for the Greek Navy.
