Arrest of a 68-year-old in Komotini who had the title Vor V Zakone of the Russian mafia, pistol and grenade found

Police officers in Komotini on Tuesday morning arrested a 68-year-old man who, according to the Greek Police, had the title “Vor V Zakone” or “Thief in Law”, which is attributed to high-ranking executives of Russian-speaking organized crime.
The police officers arrived at the 68-year-old’s home following information, and among other things, they located and confiscated:
- a pistol, with a magazine containing 7 cartridges,
- a hand grenade, without the detonator,
- the detonator of the hand grenade
According to the Greek Police announcement, the 68-year-old has previously been accused in Germany of participating in a criminal organization.

Police officers of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece, arrested, in the early hours of yesterday (1/9/2026), in Komotini, a 68-year-old foreigner, who is accused of violating the legislation on weapons.
Specifically, after appropriate use of information, by police officers of the Property Crimes Office, of the Crimes against Life and Property Department, with the assistance of the Operational Groups of the Intelligence and Special Actions Department and in the presence of a representative of the Judicial Authority, a search was conducted at the 68-year-old's home, where he was found to be in possession of weapons.
In more detail, the following items were found carefully hidden and confiscated:
a pistol, with a magazine containing -7- cartridges,
a hand grenade, without the detonator,
the grenade detonator,
a spare pistol magazine, with one cartridge,
-66- cartridges and -2- shotgun cartridges,
a metal sword with its sheath and
-2- mobile telephone devices.
As the investigation revealed, the accused holds the honorary title “Vor V Zakone” or “Thief in Law”, which is attributed to high-ranking executives of Russian-speaking organized crime.
The arrested man, who has previously been accused in Germany of participating in a criminal organization, will be brought before the competent Prosecutor.
