Papoulias Conducts Official Swiss Visit
Greek President Karolos Papoulias held meetings with Swiss Confederation President Didier Burkhalter in Berne, Switzerland, during his official visit that began today and ends on Sunday.
The two premier's topic of discussions included European developments and the European Union's relationship with Switzerland. Tomorrow brings the Greek President to Geneva, for a CERN facility visit.
Of his meeting with the Swiss President, Papoulias commented: "The Greek presidency of the EU attaches great importance to strengthening EU-Swiss relations and we hope that all obstacles to resolving the outstanding issues in our cooperation will soon be lifted". His comments are related to an agreement concerning access to EU citizen's bank deposit information, in Swiss financial institutions.
The Greek President added, "We want to strengthen a sincere and stable cooperation between Greece and Switzerland on all levels". Karolos Papoulias hopes to develop a future collaboration in tourism as well.
