Former Bishop Panteleimon Bezentitis Found Dead
Today, Athens' former Bishop Panteleimon Bezenitis was discovered dead in the northeastern region of Gefi, Keratea in Attica.
It has been reported that the religious leader's body was found by Hellenic coast guard officers on the coast. The bishop was then transferred by an EKAV ambulance to the Keratea Health Center. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of his death.
Earlier, the Greek judicial system had sentenced Bezenitis to six year behind bars, in relation to a 66.5 million euro embezzlement by the Osios Ephraim Monastery between 1995 to 1998.
