Manolada Farm Owner & Foreman Acquitted Regarding Shootout
A Patras court has sentenced two strawberry farm employees for injuring and shooting twenty-eight migrant employees rallying against unpaid earnings, however the owner and head foreman of the farm were cleared of any wrongdoings.
The violence happened last year in the region of Manolada, where the majority of its migrant workers originate from Bangladesh. The case gained global attention and casted light on the inadequate working conditions for many of Greece's migrant laboring staff.
One of the guilty men was convicted for 14 years and seven months behind bars, while the other will be jailed for eight years and seven months. Both criminals were found guilty of illegal firearm use and aggravated assault; while both were let go pending their appeal, according to the Associated Press.
