Alexis Tsipras on Mount Athos

SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras on Thursday starts a two day visit to the monastic community of Mount Athos, accompanied by MP Yiannis Amanatidis and party officials Makis Lykopoulos and Nikos Pappas.
The visit, which is to be wrapped up on Friday, follows an invitation by the Holy Community of Mount Athos, according to a SYRIZA announcement.
Alexis Tsipras will visit six monasteries and all major projects financed by the Greek state and the European Union through relevant community programs. It is uncertain whether Syriza leader he will dare to raise the issue of “Avaton” which prevents women from entering the spiritual oasis of Mt. Athos.
