The Salus Wellness Network's series of panel discussions presents; The Future of Women's Health. In our modern fast paced world women are facing many health challenges that include; mental stress, obesity, fertility problems, diabetes, heart conditions, hormonal imbalances, gender issues, and aging, to mention a few.

 

The panel of distinguished guests will tackle various topics and issues related to health and well being that are specific to women and will offer information about the latest studies, health signs to look out for, innovation in medicine, prevention, and mind-fullness.

George D Kofinas M.D. Reproductive Endocrinology, Kofinas Fertility Group – Brooklyn

As the compassionate leader of Kofinas Fertility Group and a distinguished authority on fertility medicine, Dr. Kofinas has used his depth of knowledge and sharp intuition to help thousands of couples start families of their own. Dr. Kofinas has written and spoken about the full spectrum of assisted reproductive technologies, such as reproductive surgery and in vitro fertilization (IVF), and he has personally trained every doctor on his staff

Dr. Kristy A. Brown, Ph.D., Obesity and Breast Cancer

Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medicine

Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. She obtained her Ph.D. at the Université de Montréal in Canada in 2006 where her thesis focused on understanding the regulation of hormones during the ovulatory process. During her postdoctoral fellowship, her research was aimed at understanding the molecular link between obesity and breast cancer via the regulation of steroid hormone production in the breast fat. Her current work continues to explore the mechanisms whereby obesity leads to the increased risk of breast cancer, as well as utilizing this information to identify novel therapeutic approaches. Dr. Brown has published 55 peer- reviewed articles and 2 books, and has been an invited speaker at more than 60 conferences and events. She has been the recipient of numerous national and international grants and awards, and in collaboration with breast oncologist Dr. Eleni Andreopoulou at Weill Cornell Medicine, is supported by Kat's Ribbon of Hope to undertake clinically-relevant research.

Dr.Eva Kosta, MD Cardiovascular Disease

Dr. Eva Kosta is a cardiologist in New York, New York and is affiliated with NYU Langone Medical Center. She received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and has been in practice for more than 20 years. Dr. Kosta accepts several types of health insurance, listed below. She is one of 218 doctors at NYU Langone Medical Center who specialize in Cardiovascular Disease.

Dr. Panagiota Andreopoulou, MD  Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism

Dr. Panagiota Andreopoulou is an physician in the Division of Endocrinology of Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College. Prior to these appointments she held positions at the Hospital for Special Surgery and at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center.

She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and is a certified Clinical Densitometrist for the accurate interpretation of Bone Mineral Density. Her clinical and academic interests include osteoporosis, calcium and phosphate metabolism and metabolic bone disorders as well as general endocrinology.

Agapi Stassinopoulos, M.S Psychology

Agapi Stassinopoulos attended the University of Santa Monica, where she completed her Master's in Psychology.

While her sister, Arianna Huffington, was doing research for her book about Greek mythology, Agapi's love for the gods and goddesses was ignited and led to two books of her own— Conversations with the Goddesses and Gods and Goddesses in Love—as well as a one-woman show and a PBS special. She also co-produced and co-hosted a documentary called "Quest for the Gods," shot on location in Greece. Agapi has been invited to speak at various inter-national events and global conferences, and has also spoken about health and well-being for The Spirit
of Women organization, which represents hundreds of hospitals around the country. An inspiring speaker, Agapi conducts seminars world-wide for both men and women, empowering them to recognize their individual gifts and create the lives they want. She is a frequent blogger for The Huffington Post.

Theodore Diktaban, MD, FACS

Maria Loi, Chef, Owner Loi Estiatorio, Author, Ambassador of Greek Gastronomy

Chef Maria Loi, the official Ambassador of Greek Gastronomy, as appointed by the Chef's Club of Greece, has opened Loi Estiatorio, a casual fine dining establishment at 132 West 58th Street. Based on her culinary philosophy, Chef Loi's menu features fresh, healthy ingredients including a selection of recipes from her latest book, The Greek Diet. Olive oil, yogurt, wine, herbs and spices, beans, nuts, seafood and other proteins, fruits and vegetables all come together to exemplify the vibrant flavors of Greek cuisine.

George is a Professor of Exercise Science and Nutrition at C.U.N.Y Queens College and has been in the Exercise Science Industry for over 25 years specializing in Weight Loss and Nutrition. George has also trained and worked under some of the founding founders of Exercise Science and has developed
various Medical and Health Spa's in Greece.

Yanna Darilis- Panel Organizer & Moderator
BS Phys. Ed, BS Film & Television; TV Host, Director, Producer, Fitness Expert, Peace & Health Advocate

Yanna Darilis has been in the broadcast industry for over 25 years having worked on major Greek and American television channels as an on camera talent, producer, writer and director. Her specialty is live broadcasts, having worked predominately on live morning shows. Yanna also specializes in exercise science and was trained under some of the founding fathers of Exercise Science at her Alma-Ata C.U.N.Y, Queens College. She is a published author with the first exercise Book for Greece, "Love your Body".

Highlights of Yanna's career include Master of Ceremony for the opening and closing Ceremonies of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, guest segment host on NBC's TODAY show and guest segment host on E Entertainment's Tara Reid's Travel Adventures. Yanna is the President & CEO of the 30 year Greek American Television Channel New Greek Television on Spectrum-Time Warner, RCN & Bell Fibe, Canada.

Her extensive career includes hosting, writing and directing over 80 travel and cooking features on Greece. Yanna shares her travel experience on her blog for the huffingtonpost.com. Her latest appearance as Host of the PBS Series "Mediterranean Blue" aired nationwide on various PBS affiliates.
